Don Buddhika is the award-winning Manager and Owner of Sigiriya Restaurant. Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Don moved to Dubai at a young age to become manager of the world-famous Jumeirah Beach restaurant in Dubai after conquering the hotel world in Sri Lanka. He was renowned in his industry for revolutionising the Jumeirah beach pool bar, making it a huge hit.

He further built up his career with a move across the world, gaining nearly 20 years of experience in the UK. He garnered popularity with the customers of the famous Curry Mile in Rusholme while working with the Shea Khan group. He later managed Mughli restaurant in Knutsford, making it a go-to destination for Cheshire food fans.

With over 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry under his belt, Don realised his dream of owning his own restaurant. In 2016, Sigiriya Restaurant was born and since then, Sigiriya and Don respectively have won multiple national food and restaurant awards.

“I am delighted to open and offer the people of Hale and further afield an insight into the global Sri Lankan cuisine that my family know and love”, Don commented on Sigiriya. “Not only does this food feel really personal to me, but the fabulous interiors also take inspiration from Sri Lankan roots”.

Don has many talents on top of being an excellent chef, a world-class manager, and a globetrotter. Don is a self-taught polyglot; he taught himself Hindi and English so he can better communicate with his staff and customers. Don’s magnetic personality inspires customers to come back often and the staff to work with a smile.
